Basic scratchbuild
Scratch building is a great way to get into the hobby, you can build an awful lot of plane for very little money, then when you crash it just remove all the electronics and build another one.
Its a good way of learning how RC planes work too. Have a look at our electronics section to get an idea of whats involved. There are also a lot of resources to help you when you get stuck such as the forums and youtube and loads of suppliers to pick up cheap electronics. Once you've learned the basics your only limited by your imagination.
You will need some basic tools and some practical skills particularly soldering
